Sitting inside of Starbucks (With Interbeing Views Again) by Chris Wallach

hearing Bob Dylan
I want you
sitting in Starbucks
could be like the
living room of
extended family
uncomfortable
in each other’s presence
I want you
some reading
some keyboarding
some talking
some connected
some disconnected
I want you so bad
none aware of
the wholeness
that we are
each in a bubble
Honey, I want you

The transition

The transition away from
fuck you
leave me alone
mind your own business
finally came.
Other mothers
told me
it
would.
And now I
can hold you
in my arms
and we can
cry
about the missing
and the growing up
and the changes
and remember
chasing tadpoles in
the wading pool
and making hats out of paper bags
with leaves taped on
and sliding down
the front yard
all piled on the sled
and massive
squirt gun fights.
Now you know
that when I said
I love you
forever and always
no matter what
that I truly meant it.

Lately,
every time,
when the dark cloud
passes through
my sky,
breathing in
breathing out
calm, ease, smile,
whispering greens
nodding flowers
cobalt blue sky
are what I see

Being Present

With my eyes,
looking deeply
meeting a gaze
with words of
hello, how is your day
listening
without interruption
smiling or knitted brows
providing a mirror
rejoicing in connection
two together
each one
yet also each other
interbeing

Advice as you go off to college

Eat well
mac and cheese and hot dogs
easy, quick, and not too bad.

Put the soap in the washer
before you put your clothes in
caked soap all over your clothes
a bother

Radar
Do not be afraid
to tell someone
to keep their  G----D----   hands to themselves
there are some weirdoes in college
Men,
who it seem at first glance
to be acting parental,
but then that hug is a pat on the butt
or a reach around to somewhere else
practice yelling in the basement
so that when you need the words
they can storm angrily from your mouth.

Always
keep your goals in mind
finish college
and don’t let anything get in the way
boys, alcohol, babies.
for someone to love you,
and you meet people in college who think they love you,
they will want you to grow,
reach your potential,
have a wonderful life.
Do not let “that rushing instant” interfere
Because, if it is true
that the person really loves you,
that moment will be there tomorrow
and the next day
and the next.

You are headed for an amazing adventure
Present moment
Always the most wonderful moment you have
